In Yamamoto’s rookie year in 2024, he showed flashes of brilliance but did not sustain any real consistency throughout the season. So far in 2025, he has yet to have a single slip-up. Through seven starts, Yamamoto has a 0.90 ERA and is averaging 11 strikeouts per nine innings.
Yamamoto has been strong on every level. He is racking up strikeouts and not allowing runs, but is also limiting baserunners in general. In each of his starts this season, he has gone at least five innings, given up two or fewer runs and given up five or fewer hits. Yamamoto has learned to manage an MLB start really well so that things never get out of hand. Tonight’s game is in Arizona, but Yamamoto has seen no drop-off between his starts on the road compared to at home. In fact, he has been better on the road so far this season, giving up just one earned run through four road outings. That is good for a 0.38 ERA.
Against this Diamondbacks lineup, Yamamoto should look as sharp as ever. He has faced Arizona twice in his career and dominated in both starts. He has a 1.46 ERA through those two games and should shut down the Diamondbacks once again. My favorite prop for Yamamoto tonight is for him to allow under 4.5 hits. He has given up five or fewer hits in every game this season, including a one-hit shutout gem against the Braves in his last start.
