At the end of the last episode of Ransom Canyon season one, a title card pops up: “In loving memory of Lori Romero,” it reads.
Romero, a hairstylist and makeup artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at the start of this year.
“Our beloved Lori Suzette Romero left us unexpectedly on January 1, 2025. Lori, a native and lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM was born on August 10, 1963. She is loved and missed by her son Julian Anzures, friends and family,” reads an obituary in the Albuquerque Journal. “Lori’s talent and specialization in high quality make-up and hair helped create her career with the movie industry. Her film family were a very important part of her life. Lori was known to have the biggest heart. She was everyone’s best friend and was willing to step in to help anyone who needed assistance. Her laugh was infectious; when she laughed, everyone else did too.”
According to Ransom Canyon’s credits, Romero is worked as a hair stylist on the series, and in this dedication, the show is paying tribute to a member of their team.
“For friends and family, especially those of you involved in the New Mexico film industry. I’m Very sad to say my cousin Lori Romero passed away this past week,” Romero’s relative Daniel James Chavez posted on Instagram on January 8, 2025. “I will miss the days we spent on set catching up. She was very dedicated and passionate to her trade working as a Hair and Makeup Artist on film set.”
According to her Movie Database page, Romero also worked on movies Butch vs. Sundance, Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch, End of the Road, and Killer Vacation.
Per the Albuquerque Journal, Lori was survived by her son, Julian Anzures; sister, Annette and brother-in-law Martin Costanza; brother, Carl and sister-in-law Michelle Romero; nephew, Gabriel Garcia; niece, Valerie and husband Michael Prudhome; great nephews, Sotero and Carmine Maestas; and great niece, Madison Stone.
