Warriors’ Stephen Curry Wins 2024-25 NBA Teammate of the Year Award

The NBA announced Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was named the Teammate of the Year for the 2024-25 season.

This is the first time he has received the award, and he’s the first member of the Warriors to earn the distinction, which dates back to 2012-13.

Executives around the NBA narrow the list of contenders for Teammate of the Year to 12 finalists. The winner is then based on a poll of players. Curry had 20 more first-place votes than runner-up Steven Adams, but the Houston Rockets big finished only 20 total points behind.

Curry continues to perform well on the court despite turning 37 in March and being midway through his 16th year in the league. He averaged 24.5 points on 44.8 percent shooting, including 39.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The two-time MVP also remains the linchpin for Golden State as it tries to win one more championship while balancing the development of younger contributors such as Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

“You automatically respect the guys who are the best players in the league. Automatic,” head coach Steve Kerr said to The Athletic. “And Steph is one of the best players of all time. So he already has the respect and then he goes into the locker room and there’s this authentic humility and compassion for his teammates. That’s so rare. I think that’s the key to his leadership. This amazing combination of those two traits.”
