Howard and his listeners were treated to an exclusive live performance on Tuesday morning as Grammy-winning superstar Maren Morris popped into the Stern Show studio to perform her brand-new song “Too Good” for the very first time. Hailing from her fourth studio album, “Dreamsicle” — arriving Friday, May 9 — the celebrated singer-songwriter described the delightfully acerbic new track to Howard as an “amalgamation” of a few people she had dated.
“I wanted to have something that was cheeky and fun on the record,” Maren told Howard, adding, “This is our first time getting to sing this song — for you.”
Howard was blown away by Maren and her band’s acoustic performance of “Too Good.” “Wow, I love that,” he remarked.
He and Maren’s quick but candid conversation also covered the making of the musician’s new album and getting her first songwriting break from Carrie Underwood. After their chat, Maren and band members Eric Montgomery and Erica Fox put on a full-fledged mini concert for Howard in his SiriusXM studio, which included live acoustic performances of “Girl” and “Dreamsicle” as well as a cover of Billy Idol’s iconic hit “Dancing With Myself” (below).
