Three must-start fantasy NBA plays for 5/12/25

Alex Hunter dives into Monday’s two-game NBA Playoff slate to find three players you need to have in your DraftKings lineups.

The second round of the NBA playoffs continues with a two-game slate Monday and DraftKings continues to offer huge contests for DFS players. Below, I dive into three of my favorite DFS picks to consider for Monday two-game slate.

Set your DraftKings fantasy basketball lineups here: NBA $300K Shootaround [$100K to 1st]

PF, Jonathan Kuminga, Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $5,200

With Stephen Curry (hamstring) out for the last two games, Kuminga has been a strong spark off the bench for the Warriors, scoring 25.25 and 46.5 FPTS. In that latter contest, Kuminga led Golden State in plus/minus, he ranked second in usage at 29%, and he ranked third for the team in playing time with 35.5 minutes of work. Curry will remain out for Monday’s Game 4. With the former MVP absent, the Warriors desperately need Kuminga to keep rolling offensively if they want any chance of evening this series up at two wins apiece tonight.

Kuminga should see 30+ minutes off the bench and garner another huge usage rate. With Curry off the floor this season, Kuminga’s usage rate increases 2.3 percentage points to a team-high 29.8%, and he produces 1.1 FPTS per minute. Kuminga is scoring 30 FPTS per game with Curry inactive this season (13 games) and he is a must-play at this affordable $5,200 salary.

PG, Derrick White, Boston Celtics at New York Knicks, $6,700

White has been a thorn in the Knicks’ side all season. The guard has scored over 40 FPTS in two of the first three games of this second round series with New York, and White is amassing 38.9 FPTS per game against the Knicks this season in seven matchups. With Kristaps Porzingis (illness) limited in this series vs. New York and coming off the bench for the Celtics, White’s role has been immense, with him handling an 18.9% usage rate and ranking third for Boston in playing time with 39.3 minutes per game.

White will continue to see a huge workload in Monday’s pivotal Game 4, as this is a must-win for the Celtics as they look to even this series up at two wins apiece, instead of facing a 1-3 deficit. White has a ceiling over 40 FPTS and is underpriced for that type of upside.

PF/C, Julius Randle, Minnesota Timberwolves at Golden State Warriors, $7,700

Randle was incredible in the Timberwolves’ Game 3 win over the Warriors on Saturday, posting a triple-double of 63.5 FPTS across 40 minutes. This came after a 50.25 FPTS performance in Game 2. Randle has exceeded 40 FPTS in four of his eight starts this postseason.

During this current playoff run for the Timberwolves, Randle is shooting 47% from the field and his usage has been at 25.6%, which ranks second only to Anthony Edwards for the Timberwolves. All in all, Randle has proven this postseason that he is past his previous playoff woes, and he is very underpriced for his potential ceiling at only $7,700.
