Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song are more in love than ever and a source exclusively tells Life & Style that they’re looking to finally make things official with a wedding ceremony later this year.
“They already live like they are married but they do want to formalize things in front of all the family and friends and now that Brenda has a break from her busy work schedule, she’s actually been able to start properly planning,” the source tells Life & Style.
According to the insider, Brenda, 37, and Macaulay, 44, “want to have the wedding in Southern California, probably in Santa Barbara so it will be easy for everyone to get there.”
“They aren’t planning anything huge, they want to keep it to less than 100 people, although that may be a little hard between all their family and friends,” the source continues about their future nuptials. “There will be a lot of big stars in attendance because they have so many celebrity friends. Brenda’s gotten very close to [Running Point costar] Kate Hudson so she will be there for sure with her [fiancé Danny Fujikawa] and all her kids. And of course, Mac’s brother Kieran [Culkin] will be invited along with his other brothers and sisters and all their kids.”
Brenda and Macaulay’s sons, Dakota and Carson, “are going to be a part of the ceremony,” though the couple is “opting not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen.
“They want to keep it more low key and not have a big wedding party,” the insider concludes.
The lovebirds were first romantically linked in 2017, and they welcomed baby No. 1, son Dakota, in 2021. Brenda and Macaulay got engaged in January 2022, and they continued to expand their family when they welcomed Carson in December 2022.
They finally seem ready to tie the knot after they discussed their wedding plans – or lack thereof – during a joint interview with Cosmopolitan in January.
“We talked about eloping,” the Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum admitted. “But I was like, ‘If we eloped, my mom would have a heart attack that she wasn’t going to be there …’”

Also during the interview, the couple reflected on initially disliking each other when they first met. They recalled first being introduced by mutual friend Seth Green in 2014, and Brenda said she wasn’t amused by jokes Macaulay made about her and Seth’s short-lived TV show, Dads. “He was trying to be funny about our show being canceled and I was not having it,” she said, while the Home Alone star added, “She was thoroughly unimpressed by me is what I will say.”
However, they got a second chance to get to know each other when they both reunited with Seth, 51, to shoot the 2017 indie movie Changeland.
“I saw this person he put out there — it was a product of this armor that he’s put on to protect himself,” Brenda explained. “But I could see that that wasn’t really who he was; I could see these glimpses of this really interesting, very sensitive, very intelligent, artistic person that he doesn’t really let show.”
She added, “We were both very hurt in past relationships and kept expectations low.”
