Temperatures dipping with possible frost cover

People might need to bring in some at-risk plants tonight due to a frost advisory issued for the region.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures will be chilly overnight, low enough that there could be frost.

“Temperatures are expected to drop to near the freezing mark overnight into early Friday morning,” the advisory reads. “Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas.”

It is supposed to be a high of 14 C throughout the day, but cool weather rolls in and drops the high to around 1 C. Friday the sun is set to return to the region with a high of 16 C.

Typically, the normals at this time of year are a high of 18 C and a low of 6 C.

It should be the last bout of cooler weather for the next several days, according to Jilly Taylor, 570’s meteorologist.

“Overall, it’s a beautiful stretch of weather today right through to Mother’s Day on Sunday, even into early next week,” she said. “We should have plenty of sunshine. We may not get any wet weather again until Tuesday night next week.”

She said to expect highs of 22 C on Saturday, 20 C on Sunday on Mother’s Day, and stated that it could even hit 26 C on Monday. A bit of rain could be on the way for Tuesday, but it’s still expected to be a fairly sunny stretch lasting through to Victoria Day.
