OAKLAND — Two people were wounded by gunfire Friday while they dined at a restaurant in downtown Oakland, an incident that left a window riddled with bullet holes, according to police.
The shooting occurred around 8:16 p.m. night at Pierre Pierre restaurant, a ground-floor dining establishment at 409 13th Street, which is the Tribune Tower in downtown Oakland, police said.

A Richmond man, 24, and an Oakland woman, 31, were hit by the spray of gunfire during dinner service at the upscale steak/southern food restaurant, according to investigators.
The man was hit more than once, and the woman was hit at least once. The victims secured rides to different hospitals in the Bay Area.

The victims were reported to be in stable condition. The identities of the victims weren’t disclosed.
Bullet holes were visible in the window on Saturday. The shooting occurred on the Franklin Street side of the Tribune Tower.
After the wounded man was driven to the hospital, an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy observed the driver of the wounded man throwing a semi-automatic weapon into some bushes. The deputy arrested the driver at that point.
Investigators believe the driver wasn’t connected to the shooting incident. The driver, 26, wasn’t identified.
No arrests had been made or disclosed as of midday on Saturday.
The Oakland Police Department did not report a motive for the shooting.
“Violent crime and burglaries continue to plague all of Oakland but have a particularly devastating impact on small businesses, entrepreneurs, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community,” said Huy Nguyen, president of the Oakland Police Officers Association. “(The) shooting at Pierre Pierre and the 11th burglary of nightclub Que Rico are heartbreaking.”
The Oakland POA leader expressed hope that Oakland’s political leadership would bolster hiring of police officers.
“Oakland is outmanned, outgunned and overwhelmed by criminal activity,” Nguyen said. “We need a commitment from the new mayor and council to provide more police officers now to stem the tide of violence and crime and help turn Oakland around.”
Anyone who wishes to provide information about the incident can phone the Oakland Police Department at 510-238-3426.
