Seven children rescued after Moreton Bay man charged with child exploitation offences

Seven children have been rescued after a Moreton Bay man was charged with 28 drug and child exploitation offences.

The 31-year-old was arrested in December last year and several devices were seized in a raid on a Kippa-Ring home.

He was first charged with possessing child exploitation material and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

In January he was charged with another 24 offences, including using the internet to procure children, indecent treatment of a child under 12 with mental impairment, and facilitating the procurement of a child for a sexual act.

Two child victims in south-east Queensland, and five in the Philippines — four girls and a boy — have since been rescued.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Moreton District Detective Inspector Phil Hurst said the investigation was complex.

“I thank the CPIU detectives for their tenacity in going to lengths to ensure the victims were identified and, in some cases, rescued from harm,” he said.

“This shows that we will investigate all reports of harm against children both locally and even if it leads us overseas.”
