Second intake round for 13k RTE seats announced in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Following the completion of the first round of Class 1 admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 13,399 seats remain vacant across private primary schools in Gujarat. To address this, the education department has initiated the second round of the RTE admission process. The re-selection of schools will begin on Thursday, and parents can make changes to their school preferences on the RTE web portal until May 17.If parents choose not to update their preferences, the originally selected schools will be considered for the second round of allocation. The department aims to complete the entire RTE admission process by the end of May.This year, 93,860 RTE seats were available across the state for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged groups. In the first round, held on April 28, 86,274 students were allotted seats. However, 7,586 seats remained unfilled during the allocation.Admitted students were required to confirm their admissions by visiting their allotted schools by May 8. Out of the 86,274 students, 80,461 confirmed their admissions within the given timeline. The remaining 5,813 did not complete the process, leading to a total of 13,399 vacant seats.Only those students whose applications were approved and who did not receive a seat in the first round are eligible for re-selection in the second round. Such students can log in to the RTE portal and select new schools from those with available seats. If no changes are made, previous choices will remain valid for allocation.
