Update, 4 p.m. Eversource reports the problem was at an Andrew Square substation, says the power’s back.
Eversource is reporting power outages from Dorchester up to the Back Bay, and from South Boston to Jamaica Plain, with restoration times varying between 4:30 and 6 p.m.
As of 3:10 p.m., the utility was reporting a total of 25,226 homes and businesses were without power. The lights – including traffic signals – started going out around 2:38 p.m.
Around 2:50 p.m., firefighters responded to 152 and 154 Seaver St., between Elm Hill and Humboldt avenues in Roxbury, for people trapped in elevators.
The entire South Bay Mall lost power.
