Pedro Neto blown away by exciting Chelsea teenager, he’s got ‘very good skills and talent’

Chelsea’s Pedro Neto has delivered high praise for one young teammate he shares the dressing room with.

Even though he’s only aged 25, Pedro Neto is actually one of the older and more experienced heads in the Chelsea squad right now.

It’s been a decent debut season for the Portuguese winger at Stamford Bridge, largely because he’s kept himself fit and played many games despite a lot of injury problems earlier in his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca explained Pedro Neto’s best position is playing on the right wing. However, he has shown his versatility to play anywhere across the frontline this campaign, even slotting in as striker cover to good effect in certain matches.

Pedro Neto super impressed by Chelsea youngster Tyrique George

Without a doubt, the rise of Tyrique George from the Blues academy to the first team has been one of the bright sparks of the season. The 19-year-old attacker is now beginning to make key contributions after a full promotion to the senior group.

Neto has delivered a glowing verdict on fellow Chelsea forward George for his ability, insisting that he’s got an important role to play.

Neto said via Chelsea’s official YouTube channel: “Like you saw in the game [against Fulham], Tyrique is ready to help the team. He’s a really good lad that helps a lot with very good skills and talent.

“The thing he has to do is to continue to do what he’s doing, and we will need him in the games. I think he’s in the right way to help the team. We are really happy for him as well.”

Chelsea’s academy feared Tyrique George would struggle for regular playing time after joining the first team, but he’s beginning to make a name for himself in the group.

The English teenager came through the youth ranks predominantly as a left-winger. We’ve seen him step in superbly well as an option in the centre-forward position, though.

George’s standout moment so far was his first Premier League goal, which sparked a comeback win over rivals Fulham in April.

The most important thing is that the rising star is getting opportunities under Maresca.

Tyrique George must not get lost next season

We hope that Maresca’s seen enough from George on and off the pitch to keep him in his plans moving into the 2025/26 campaign.

George has definitely seized his opportunity to come into the main group, especially because of Mykhailo Mudryk’s unavailability, and prove his qualities. It must be concerning for him when he sees the widespread transfer speculation about potential new incomings in the forward positions, though.

Everton are showing interest in Tyrique George after sending scouts to watch him play, but Chelsea need to make sure is pathway with them remains clear.

Like Neto mentions, we think George could be important in the final stretch of this season, particularly in winning the Conference League.
