With the Senators on the brink of a first round elimination, Tim Stutzle is attempting to discredit the Maple Leafs with his recent comments ahead of Game 4.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the verge of completing their first series sweep in the post-season since 2001, which they last accomplished against the Ottawa Senators.

The first three games of the series have been electric with the last two contests having both gone to overtime. The Leafs prevailed with clutch goals coming from Max Domi in Game 2 and Simon Benoit in Game 3 and are hoping for the same type of magic tonight.

One of the keys in the series so far has been special teams, with the Maple Leafs having gone 5 for 9 on the power play, while also killing off 7 of 9 penalties.

In Game 1, the Leafs’ vaunted power play took the game away with their 3-for-6 performance and their effectiveness has continued in the series. However, that’s not what Senators forward Tim Stutzle would have you believe.

The German skater was asked this morning about the Maple Leafs’ power play and why they’ve been so difficult to deal with through the first three games. He cheekily responded that they’ve gotten help from some fortuitous bounces.

He had a little bit of a laugh before dismissing the potency of the Leafs’ power play, stating, “bounces off our guys.”

The Senators will need to keep their cool and composure tonight to keep the series alive, and part of that will include fewer trips to the sin bin. There’s been a lot of missed calls on both sides so far, but if the referees start calling things as they see them, the “lucky” Leafs power play will be ready to strike.
