Nepal announces squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier

Nepal has unveiled a 14-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, set to be held in Thailand from May 9 to 20. The team will be led by experienced campaigner Indu Barma, with Puja Mahato named as her deputy.

Pace bowler Sabnam Rai and WK batter Rubi Poddar are called back. Promising young spinners Manisha Upadhyaya and Riya Sharma, who impressed during the previous series and also at the preparatory camp, have earned their spots. Speedster Kabita Kunwar returns to the squad after recovering from an injury, providing a boost to the pace attack. However, veteran all-rounder Sita Rana Magar has missed out on selection.

The squad was finalized following an intensive training camp held in Bhairahawa, where players were put through rigorous drills and practice matches to assess their form and fitness.

The Asia Qualifier will feature nine sides from the region, with only two teams securing a berth in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
