Mustafizur Rahman has been included in the Bangladesh A team for the first-two one-day matches versus New Zealand A after recovering from a left-shoulder injury sustained a few months ago. Before being added into the A side, which will put him a step closer to joining the Bangladesh senior team, the 29-year-old played in the ongoing edition of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the premier List A tournament in the country, on his return to competitive cricket.
Notably, as part of the treatment for the left-shoulder injury, Mustafizur Rahman was administered a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection on March 12, over a month-and-a-half ago. As per the report from Cricbuzz, the PRP therapy is about injecting a concentrated dose of the patient’s own platelets into the injured area of the body, which helps in promoting healing and reducing inflammation, apart from alleviating pain and increasing the speed of tissue regeneration.

After Mustafizur Rahman was given the PRP therapy, the member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical unit was quoted as saying, “He (Mustafizur) was given a PRP injection and now he will need some rest before returning to field. Mustafizur is not having any new injury but the left-shoulder that was operated earlier causes problem at times, and he manages that (discomfort) and play.”
Upon his return from injury, Mustafizur Rahman played three matches in the DPL and took five wickets in total. Following his selection in the Bangladesh A team, the BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain was quoted as saying, “He (Mustafizur Rahman) was out of cricket for a while. So we brought him into the A team to make him ready for the upcoming international fixture.”
“We are expecting the series to be highly competitive and we have also brought some seasoned campaigners like Mossadek and Sohan just to make sure that they are not out of our radar,” he added.
