Mississippi native in American Idol Top 3, headed to season finale


BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – Jamal Roberts, a Meridian Native, will compete in the season finale of American Idol.

On Monday night, May 12, Roberts performed two songs, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

Roberts made it to the Top 3, and will now compete in the show’s finale on Sunday, May 18.

The other two contestants moving on are Louisiana native John Foster and Texas native Breanna Nix.

Slater Nalley and Thunderstorm Artis did not earn enough votes to make it into the Top 3.

Roberts, who is an elementary school P.E. teacher, has been a fan favorite this season with people across the state cheering him on.

You can watch the three-hour season finale on Sunday, May 18, on WLOX-ABC at 7 p.m.

Various stars are to perform with the contestants during the finale, including Patti LaBelle, the Goo Goo Dolls, Jessica Simpson, Josh Groban, and Salt-N-Pepa.
