The Minnesota Timberwolves have a week to prepare ahead for Playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers. It will be a tough matchup because the Lakers are on top of their game, especially since they have a trio of star players.
LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves have all been superb players in the 2024-25 season, which makes the Timberwolves’ jobs hard for the matchup. Minnesota is well aware of the task at hand, which will make it interesting to see how they adapt against the trio.

Minnesota was only one game behind the Lakers in the Western Conference standings, so the gap is not too big. The matchup will depend on how the Timberwolves stack against the Lakers’ Big Three.

Conley On Playing Against The Big Three
As the most experienced player on the Timberwolves roster, Conley has played against plenty of star players. He has faced a lot of good teams in the Playoffs, so this matchup against the Lakers won’t weigh on him too much.
However, he knows what they are up against. Mike knows the Timberwolves and their coaching staff have their hands full when the series starts on April 19.

“What makes them special, I think, is they’re so versatile. Them three guys, they’re three of the smartest players you’ll play against and have some of the best abilities to play off of each other and just read a game,” Conley said after practice. “So it’s like you can prepare all you want, put schemes together all you want, they can do stuff in real time and adjust to it.”
The Timberwolves Have Chips On Their Shoulders
Since the Timberwolves are the heavy underdogs for this series, they have chips on their shoulders. This is an opportunity for Minnesota to prove themselves, as they want to keep winning and advance into the next round of the Playoffs.
It will be a tough series because they are playing against a superstar-laden team. The Timberwolves’ defense will get tested because Luka and LeBron are already fantastic players, but adding Reaves to that makes it even harder to win.

However, head coach Chris Finch and his staff will prepare the team to succeed. They know the pressure is high, making them even more excited to work hard and try to win the series.
