Zach Edey stuffed the stat sheet on April 15, but the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Golden State Warriors.
The Grizzlies now have to play in a do-or-die play-in game on Friday night, and Edey will probably be key if the Grizzlies are going to win that game.
He had 14 points and 17 rebounds in Tuesday’s loss, continuing what has been an impressive stretch of games since Tuomas Iisalo took over as Grizzlies’ interim coach. Edey has double-digit rebounds in eight of 10 games since Taylor Jenkins was fired.
There were still some rocky moments. The Warriors went at him repeatedly on the defensive end of the floor, and Edey struggled at times to defend against their attack.
The Grizzlies will host either the Sacrament Kings or Dallas Mavericks — who will play Wednesday — on Friday night at FedExForum. The winner of that game will advance to the playoffs to face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
