Jon Jones is supposedly extremely concerned over one aspect of his potential fight with Tom Aspinall.
Despite the pleas from fans around the world, the showdown that the MMA community so desperately craves is yet to come to fruition.
For whatever reason, the American has shown little enthusiasm for the match-up. Colby Covington claimed Jones wants too much money to fight Aspinall, whereas the UFC interim heavyweight title holder has suggested that his rival may have concerns over his skill set.
However, one MMA icon believes he may have figured out why the clash is yet to be announced.

Chael Sonnen has a theory behind why it’s taking so long for Jon Jones to sign on the dotted line to face Tom Aspinall.
‘The American Gangster’ believes that the issues in negotiations could be straightforward to solve.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, the trash-talker claimed: “Jon has a concern, ‘they (the UFC) don’t know what to do with me if I’m not champion, and if Tom beats me and he doesn’t give me a rematch, or they won’t guarantee me a rematch, what do they plan to do with me’?
“I gained an understanding to the insight of Jon. If that is, in fact, accurate information, that Jon is worried about an immediate rematch and doesn’t think he’s going to get it, can look at the board and see that he’s 36 and on his way out, and this guy is on his way up, and he even questions why they left the belt with him, to the point where he’s saying, ‘If they knew what to do with me not as champion, they’d have already done it’.
“That’s very objective. So, is it as simple as guaranteeing Jon a rematch? Very interesting point.”

However, his words now may not reflect how he truly feels.
In an interview conducted before they started trading verbal bombs, the two-weight UFC champion talked all about the rising star.
