John Foster Was Surprised to Get Recognized at Disneyland

Foster, who’s in his second semester at Louisiana State University with a goal of becoming an oncologist, has skyrocketed to fame on “American Idol” with his classic country vibe.

In an interview published on May 12, he told his local paper, The Adovcate, “Somebody said one time that ‘American Idol’ is rocket fuel, and I think that’s a perfect analogy for what it can do for an artist. You know, it’s been literal rocket fuel. I went from 5,000 to 200,000 followers on Facebook, which, within two months, is absolutely incredible.”

Foster also said that “rocket fuel” made him recognizable at Disneyland, when the show brought contestants and their families to film there last week.

“Another example of kind of how far this has brought me is never in a million years did I think I’d ever be recognized in Disneyland,” he told the outlet. “Like, sure, I can see somebody recognizing me in like Louisiana or you know, Texas or something, but Disneyland in California was not somewhere that I ever thought I’d be recognized in. And sure enough, many people recognized me, which was crazy.”

The May 12 show will be the second Disney-themed night in a row, so each contestant will sing two selections from the Disney catalog. They each worked with guest mentor Lin-Manuel Miranda on their selections, and he’s expected to be in-studio to cheer them on and provide feedback.
