Back in 2022, Emily Ratajkowski wore a vintage Galliano-for-Dior from this line to a Harper’s Bazaar bash, and just the other month, our new Lois Lane wore one of the black ones to Cinemacon. Now Jenna Ortega is taking the one originally made famous by Carrie Bradshaw — twice, actually — for a whirl. If they recreated it, that was probably cheaper than getting their hands on a real one, as one auction site is currently selling it for $245,000. I’m not really sure what’s driving the Galliano love, or why it’s happening here and now and on Jenna Ortega. It looks fine on her, but I also don’t think this experience is lending the dress any currency it didn’t already have — there isn’t a new take, the styling isn’t fresh or unusual; there’s nothing additive here. I’d rather have seen Jenna put her own stamp on herself rather than dredging up something that will forever be associated with someone else.
