Jamal Fogarty signs with Manly Sea Eagles, Raiders lose halfback, Daly Cherry-Evans replacement confirmed, news, transfers, signings

Raiders halfback Jamal Fogarty has reportedly informed Ricky Stuart he will depart the nation’s capital, signing with the Sea Eagles.

That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting the 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year, $2 million deal to take over at halfback from the departing Daly Cherry-Evans.

Fogarty reportedly met with Stuart on Tuesday morning to break the news, having battled with his decision over several weeks.

Young gun Ethan Sanders will be Fogarty’s long-term halves replacement, with the experienced No.7 set to depart at the end of the 2025 season.

Stuart reportedly also confirmed Fogarty would remain the club’s chief playmaker for the remainder of this season, delivering a host of strong performances this year.

His decision comes after Raiders powerbrokers failed to trigger a clause in his deal which would have extended him for a further year.

Instead, they tabled a two-year contract in a bid to stave off Manly’s poaching raid, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.

More to come.
