CAPE COD, Mass. (TNND) — An illegal migrant convicted of raping a child in Brazil had been living in a Cape Cod daycare, according to Boston 25 News
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials announced the arrest of Andre Tiago Lucas in November 2024. It acknowledged he was convicted by a Brazilian court of “rape of a vulnerable person” and fled to Massachusetts to dodge his nine-year prison sentence.
Lucas continued living in Massachusetts by sheltering in a daycare, according to the outlet. It did not share the name of the daycare, but noted its owner Francine Nunes had previously been licensed by the state Department of Early Education and Care.
Reacting was Massachusetts GOP, which decried the report as evidence of leadership failure.
“This is what no partnership with ICE leads to: an illegal immigrant child rapist living in a daycare on Cape Cod,” it wrote via X. “Had enough of Maura Healey and one-party rule? Visit http://massgop.com and join our team for 2026.”
The Republican National Committee also reacted, saying “Waiting for the Democrats to call him ‘Massachusetts Man.’”
“Get him the h— out of here,” it added.
