The Athletics wrap up their series against the Texas Rangers tonight a Sutter Health as both teams will look to win the series after splitting the first two contests.
On the bump tonight for the home team will be rookie right-hander JT Ginn. Ginn got off to a quick start at Triple-A before getting recalled to take over the fifth starter’s spot for the big league team. He’s made two starts and looked solid in each, going 10 innings and allowing four total runs. He couldn’t make it through five full innings last time out against the Brewers so he’ll be looking to be more efficient with his pitches today in his second career start against the Rangers.
The Athletics’ lineup for the series finale will look like this:
A few changes to the starting nine for tonight’s series finale. Designated hitter Brent Rooker will get the night off while the left-handed Seth Brown gets the nod instead. That means we’ll need a new #2 hitter and who else but Jacob Wilson to rise up the order? Wilson leads the team with a .337 batting average and is a natural fit to slide in between leadoff man Lawrence Butler and 3-hole hitter Tyler Soderstrom. The rest of the lineup features all the regulars for tonight’s contest.
The starters will be facing former Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom tonight. If they were facing prime-era deGrom then you could basically count them out as he used to be that dominant. A few injury-marred seasons have wrecked the past couple of years for the future Hall of Fame right-hander but he’s off to a solid start so far here in 2025 with a 3.32 ERA through his first four starts. No major league hitter should ever take deGrom lightly.
The Rangers will line up like this for the finale:
It’s time to take the series and continue improving that home record. Let’s go A’s!
