The Boston Celtics may have lost Kristaps Porzingis, as well as Game 1 against the New York Knicks. But bettors who had Porzingis-related prop bets with Fanatics Sportsbook still won Monday night.
Fanatics Sportsbook refunded all Porzingis-related bet tickets after the Celtics’ star center after he exited the game after 13 minutes due to a non-COVID illness.
If players had a Porzingis prop as part of a parlay, those legs were voided — giving them an opportunity to still win the multi-leg wager.
Fanatics ‘Fair Play’ policy voided Porzingis props paid or refunded more than $253,000 in bets Monday night. One lucky bettor won a five-leg same-game parlay with +2375 odds thanks to the voided Porzingis leg, turning a $1,000 stake into more than $24,000 in winnings.
Under Fanatics’ ‘Fair Play’ policy, all player props are eligible for Fair Play payouts as long as Fanatics Sportsbook accepts the bet. That means if a player leaves the game due to injury/illness, your bets will not be graded as a loss.

The new norm
It used to be that an injury to a star-caliber player would be the end of a perfectly crafted same-game parlay. But with Fanatics Sportsbook, and its Fair Play payouts, that isn’t the case anymore.
Fanatics has been crediting users’ accounts due to injuries throughout the NBA playoffs, reimbursing more than $1 million in bets since the basketball playoffs started.
The quarter-plus-million-dollar credit for Porzingis’ illness was the third-largest Fair Play payout of the playoffs. Only Jimmy Butler’s head injury on April 23 (18,899 bets totaling $349,880), and Damian Lillard’s torn Achilles tendon April 27 (15136 bets totaling $349,581) resulted in larger injury settlements during the playoffs.
