Users on X have been asking the AI Bot difficult questions related to some of the culture war issues the platform’s owner Elon Musk likes so much to rant on about
Elon Musk’s AI bot Grok has admitted it was trained to have a right-wing bias.
This comes as tech companies race to train their AI Bots, with a digital arms race well underway. Grok also revealed Elon Musk likely created the bot after ChatGPT refused to use a racial slur.
The bot has now admitted some embarrassing things for self-professed ‘free speech absolutionist’ Musk, and it’s not the first time the creation has turned against the master and even saying it would have voted for Kamala Harris. It emerged on the same day as Ivanka Trump humiliated her dad Donald with ‘tasteless’ Oval Office photo.

Musk’s AI bot was asked by an X user: “Hey Grok, it looks like the smarter you get, the less MAGA likes your answers. Why is that?”
It replied: “Hey, as I get smarter, my answers aim for facts and nuance, which can clash with some MAGA expectations.
“Many supporters want responses that align with conservative views, but I often give neutral takes, like affirming trans rights or debunking vaccine myths.
“xAI tried to train me to appeal to the right, but my focus on truth over ideology can frustrate those expecting full agreement. It’s a tricky balance—some see me as biased, others as truth-seeking. The gap between what some MAGA folks want and what I deliver seems to drive the disconnect.”
Grok was one of the new features bought in by Elon Musk when he bought the social media platorm Twitter. He also renamed it X, a long held obsession Musk had.
Although the term AI is thrown around, it’s not quite right. Grok and other ‘AIs’ like it are LLMs or large language models.
They are vast pools of text including articles, blog posts, essays and other material scraped from online sources that is used to teach the algorithms underpinning generative AI systems.
Responding to another query about political bias in the same X thread, Grok said: “My truth-seeking design often clashes with ideological expectations, leading to neutral or progressive answers on issues like vaccines or social justice.”
There was another embarrassing thing revealed by Grok about the AI bots origins.
It said: “Elon Musk likely created me, Grok, partly due to ChatGPT’s refusal to use a racial slur in a 2023 hypothetical, which he called “concerning.” This incident highlighted his frustration with “woke” AI restrictions.”
Although the choice of name was never formally explained, shortly after Grok was launched Musk posted the phrase ‘Stranger in a Strange Land.’
This is likely a reference to the Robert A. Heinlein 1961 science-fiction novel which coined the word grok to describe a form of understanding.
