Tonight’s (May 9) episode of SmackDown kicked off with a tag team match pitting LA Knight and Damian Priest against Solo Sikoa and United States Champion Jacob Fatu. This match was here to whet the appetite before Fatu defends his gold in a 4-way match tomorrow night at Backlash against Priest, Knight, and Drew McIntyre.
The story that played out is one where the babyfaces couldn’t get along because of their egos, while the heels were a well-oiled unit because they’ve teamed up plenty of times in the past. However, Solo ultimately proved to be the weak link. He let his partner down by getting hit with the megastar’s BFT finisher and getting pinned for the three count.

Knight and Priest still got physical with each other after the match despite the win, so Jacob Fatu took advantage of that by beating the crap out of both men. But just as it looked like the champ was going to end the segment standing tall, Drew McIntyre came out of nowhere to put Fatu down with a Claymore.
Drew cut a promo later in the show mocking Jacob’s “all gas, no brakes” catchphrase, and correctly pointed out that Knight and Priest don’t even belong in the title match that he rightfully earned against Fatu.
Do you think any of the three challengers have a chance to win the US title at Backlash? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
