Baby Benn is here.
Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn and his wife Jessica announced the birth of their first child, Knox Jay Benn, Sunday on Instagram.
“What a privilege it is to be his parents,” The Benns wrote in a collaborative Instagram post. “We are overwhelmed with love.”
The post also revealed Knox was born in the early morning hours of April 3. That same day, Jamie missed his first NHL game since the 2020-2021 season, ending a streak of 371 consecutive games played.
Benn is not the first Stars player to welcome a new baby this season. Fellow forward Tyler Seguin and his wife Kate welcomed a baby girl, Wren Katherine, in January.
The Benns’ announcement comes a day after Jamie and the Stars dropped Game 1 of their first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche. It marked Dallas’ eighth consecutive loss in a playoff series opener.
