Crime thrillers from the Malayalam film industry have consistently drawn large audiences due to their realism and gripping storytelling. Building on this trend, a new thriller starring Mohanlal titled Thudaram has recently hit theatres.
Thudaram is directed by Tarun Moorthy and produced by Ranjith. The film was released on a large scale on April 24. Starring alongside Mohanlal is Shobana, while the music has been composed by Mickey J. Meyer. Despite Mohanlal’s widespread popularity and market appeal, the film was crafted with a measured budget of ₹28 crore, carefully tailored to suit the demands of its narrative.
The investment has paid off significantly. In Kerala alone, the film has grossed over ₹100 crore. Globally, Thudaram has achieved box office collections exceeding ₹200 crore. It now holds the distinction of being the third fastest Malayalam film to reach such a milestone in terms of revenue.

The central conflict arises when his son takes the family car on a casual trip to Chennai with friends. Police seize the car under suspicion that it is being used to smuggle marijuana.
