Andrew Garfield Was Filmed With Monica Barbaro After the 2025 Met Gala

Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro were spotted together in New York City this weekend, but the couple chose not to make their Met Gala debut last night. Only Barbaro stepped out at this evening’s Met Gala, marking her first time at the prestigious fashion event. However, Garfield was with Barbaro later in the evening.

Barbaro channeled the night’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme in a Dior dress on the red carpet.

Her boyfriend met up with her after the event. Cosmopolitan posted footage of their sweet reunion:

Garfield last attended the Met Gala in 2019. His decision not to attend the fashion event reflects the couple’s desire to keep their relationship relatively private.

While Garfield and Barbaro have been at events together, they have never posed on a red carpet side by side. The two were first romantically linked in February. Weeks later, they were photographed leaving the Vanity Fair Oscar Party together. They have since been seen in Japan and New York.

Garfield has been vocal about his desire to keep his love life private. In October, he told Esquire, “I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever.”

Barbaro, meanwhile, spoke to Variety in February about why she deleted social media off her phone. It has nothing to do with her personal life as much as it has to do with her A Complete Unknown co-star, Timothée Chalamet: “I had to delete social media because there’d be a photo of Timmy and then this onslaught of people saying, ‘He’s going to win an Oscar for this!’” Barbaro recalled. “And I had to tune it all out because we hadn’t even shot the film yet. My job was to do the work at the utmost level, so I deserved to have my name next to Timmy’s and Elle [Fanning] and Edward [Norton].”

She continued, “It was an interesting time because Timmy and the film had so much buzz, there were people sneaking on to set and grabbing videos or crowds gathering on the street and you’d just see smartphones up. And all that was irrelevant to the time we were portraying; it wasn’t a part of their head space. What’s funny is I’ve deleted it again because I was overwhelmed by the lovely, positive feedback. I’ll be back, but I need to respond to the people who have sent me lovely emails and texts first.” Both Barbaro and Chalamet were nominated for Oscars this year.
