2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Metropolitan Division Final Game 5: Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes

CAR leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT
In Canada: Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: TNT, truTV
Streaming: Max, Sportsnet+

The Capitals were no match for the Hurricanes in the two games played in Raleigh, losing by scores of 4-0 and 5-2. The teams have made the trip back to D.C. for Game 5, and Capital One Arena has at least seen closer games, including a win for the Capitals in Game 2.

Washington needs to win three games in a row to keep its quest for the Stanley Cup alive, something it hasn’t done since mid-March. But that streak would start with one win, and that can be all the host club concerns itself with tonight.

Central Division Final Game 5: Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars

DAL leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 9:30 PM EDT / 6:30 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: TNT, truTV
Streaming: Max, Sportsnet+

Connor Hellebuyck has been the top story for the Jets in this post-season, when it’s typically been his play that leads to losses. It’s hard to say he was the problem in Game 3 when the Dallas Stars scored two power-play goals on the way to a 3-1 win. Winnipeg was contained to just three goals over the two games played in Dallas, and that won’t get many wins with even great netminding.

The Jets need to find some offence if they want to avoid being the latest Presidents’ Trophy-winners to get bounced early from the playoffs. They earned the chance to play two of the final three games of each series at Canada Life Centre with their play in the regular season, and need home ice to be to their advantage in Game 5.
